Welcome to mikevernon.com. I’m Mike Vernon, and this site is dedicated to educating and assisting those who own and/or insure environmentally stressed real estate. We’ll cover what environmentally stressed properties are, how they affect your quality of life and how it affects their marketability and value. Also, how to address buyer concerns, and how to protect yourself when buying in a “buyer beware” state.
A Bit About Me
I’m an experienced business owner with a background in Fortune 100 production and management. I’ve probably made over 100,000 sales during my career, without a single cold call, because I have excelled in creating competitive differentials and complex sales strategies to promote my products and services.
Current Focus
As the market has evolved, so have I, and my current focus is on integrating climate change, sea level rise, insurance, real estate, and environmental legislation to better serve my clients as a realtor, insurance agent, mitigator, and consultant. In 2011, I entered the flood industry, and after navigating various challenges, I founded Flood Insurance and Flood Mitigation Hampton Roads. Since then, I’ve designed and completed over 1,500 flood mitigation projects, including flood vent installations, basement removals, mechanical elevations, house lifting, and major renovations. Alongside this, I’ve also built a substantial base of insurance clients.
Leveraging Expertise
Now, I leverage my business-to-business partnerships, referral networks, and expertise to help those with mid-Atlantic challenged properties navigate environmental issues, legislative acts, sustainability, insurability, erosion and flood related concerns, so that we can bring sellers and buyers together. I believe that educating and facilitating sellers and buyers concerning these complex subject matters while promoting responsible land management will bring the best possible results to each transaction and our future.
Future Vision
In the end, I want my grandkids to know I did everything possible to ensure they can enjoy blue crabs, swim in clean water, and see the houses along the shore that they played in when they were growing up.
Cheers!
